Getting through to the right person in a medical practice is a key success factor. Recent research however tells a sorry story. Telephone numbers were selected at random of sole practitioner practices, group practices and hospital appointments and calls were made at different times in the week over the course of one month. 40% of all calls made to private practices were not answered and many of the voicemails we left were not returned.
